ABC Quality Orientation
An Introduction to the Structural Elements of ABC Quality and Portfolio Submission (1 hour Professional Development): This course provides an introduction to the ABC Quality Program's structural elements and the submission of a portfolio documenting: Program Administration and Structure, Staff Education and Professional Development, Child Well-being, and Family Communication, Engagement, and Cultural Competency.
An Introduction to the Process Quality Elements of ABC Quality and the Intentional Teaching Tool (ITT) for Infant and Toddler Classrooms (1 hour Professional Development): This course provides an overview of ABC Quality's Element V: Intentional Teaching Practices that refer to educators being deliberate, purposeful and thoughtful in their decisions and actions. We will examine standards for the Infant and Toddler Intentional Teaching Tool (ITT), Language and Communication, Guidance, Program Structure, Early Learning, and the Environment.
Understanding the Basics of ABC Quality: Setting Your Program up for Success (1 hour Professional Development): This course provides an introduction to the basics of South Carolina's voluntary ABC Quality Rating and Improvement System that helps care providers achieve higher standards. Providers who opt to participate in ABC Quality must demonstrate that they meet, exceed, or surpass basic child care standards. The program is administered by the Division of Early Care and Education of the SC Department of Social Services.
An Introduction to the South Carolina Early Learning Standards (SCELS) (1 hour Professional Development): The SC-ELS Goals and Developmental Indicators describe expectations for what children will learn, starting with infancy and covering all ages through kindergarten entry. This course provides an introduction to the new SC Early Learning Standards (SC-ELS).
