Description
Welcome to Strengthening Families Georgia!
Strengthening Families Georgia is a partnership of over fifty agencies and organizations that take the lead on children's issues. Housed at Prevent Child Abuse (PCA) Georgia located within Georgia State University, Strengthening Families Georgia (SFG) is funded by the Department of Human Services, Division of Family and Children Services and administered by PCA Georgia. This course is funded by Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning in partnership with PCA Georgia, Strengthening Families Georgia, and ProSolutions Training.
Humans are social in nature, meaning that we need personal interactions with other people. We need others to listen to us, care about us, and support us in happy times and in times of need. The need for social connections is especially important for parents. Families need to know that there are other people who care about them and their children and are available to give informed advice and help in solving problems.
Research shows that strong, supportive social connections serve as a buffer for parental stressors that have been linked to disengaged parenting, social isolation, depression, and child maltreatment. As a child care professional, you can help strengthen families by building social connections. This course will take a closer look at social connections and identify ways you can engage and strengthen families in your program.
This course is 1 hour, and once you have completed the course and test, you can immediately print your certificate, which includes CEUs at no additional cost.
