Description
The coronavirus pandemic that began in spring 2020 led to restrictions for everyone around the world, near immediately causing a disconnect from face-to-face relationships between people. The need to limit in person contact led to an awareness suggesting that although some were coping reasonably well, others struggled emotionally, experiencing vicious cycles of increasing distress.
This course examines the consequences of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and extreme stress that can compromise the emotional well-being of children (and adults). We will unpack the concept of resilience and its role in healing, while looking at signs of trauma and ways to reduce the negative impact of traumatic experiences.
