Understand and be prepared for the various health and safety aspects of a child care program including water safety, managing medication, controlling communicable diseases, safe sleep practices, travel safety, and emergency procedures

Learn to manage an effective child care program including personnel recruitment/retention, budgeting and marketing, licensing standards, and appropriate social media practices

Develop and improve communication skills that will help build more effective teams, support reflective supervision, and aid in conflict resolution
- Parent Engagement
Learn to support and engage families by identifying and connecting families with appropriate resources, incorporating cultural experiences into the classroom, and developing effective communication strategies with families

Learn how to incorporate best practices into your early care and education program including the design of a developmentally-appropriate classroom, effective curriculum choices, appropriate assessment tools, inclusion of culture and diversity in the classroom, quality initiatives, essential forms for staff and children, and how to connect staff with helpful resources

Identify and integrate child development opportunities into the classroom by understanding the social-emotional, cognitive and physical development milestones and brain development functions of young children, learning inclusive preschool classroom practices for children with special needs, and understanding the effect of stress on young children

Learn to develop and support professionalism through the use of successful coaching and mentoring, establishing professional development goals, understanding how to recognize and solve ethical dilemmas, learning techniques for stress management, and identifying professional behaviors

Description

Director Training: Understanding Your Role package with additional courses covering content on basic health and safety in addition to intermediate-level courses covering business practices, communication, family engagement, developmentally appropriate practices, child development, and professionalism.
